St Vincent de Paul CEO Sleepout

Written by Class | 07/06/2017 12:39:07 AM
This year I am taking part in the St Vincent de Paul CEO Sleepout in Sydney on 22 June. Along with other CEOs, I’ll be sleeping outdoors for one night to draw attention to the issue of homelessness in Australia and raise money for the homeless and their support services.

It’s one night of minor discomfort for me but, as the nights get colder, take a moment to think about what it must be like for the thousands of people sleeping on the streets across Australia.

The statistics on homelessness in Australia are sobering.

More than 105,000 people in Australia are experiencing homelessness, with 60% of those under the age of 35. Perhaps surprising to many people is that 44% are women and 13% are under the age of 12.

Class believes that companies have a responsibility to support the community and initiatives which assist those less fortunate so that we can build a strong, inclusive and generous society.

Every dollar the Vinnies CEO Sleepout raises helps provide crucial assistance to the homeless, with the aim of breaking the cycle and getting people into secure accommodation.
